From the clarity of our glass to the final hand-signed detail, every stage is met with a discerning eye. Our commitment to excellence is balanced by an appreciation for the subtle variations that make each piece distinctly its own. Read on to see how these standards help us create work meant to be cherished for generations.
At 2BGlass, safety is non-negotiable. Our studio is fully permitted and engineered for professional glassmaking, featuring three 18-ft roll-up doors, a 35,000 CFM roof fan, 22-ft ceilings, and two industrial Portacool units that provide exceptional ventilation and an open, airy workspace.
We use HEPA-filter vacuums to keep the studio environment clean and safe, while every critical system—furnaces, kilns, gas lines, and electrical—is fire marshal–approved and meticulously maintained. This rigorous approach to safety creates a secure, worry-free environment where our team and guests can focus entirely on the craft.
Glass Quality
Our standards begin with the glass itself. We melt batch—raw sand, soda, and lime—directly in the furnace, rather than remelting pre-made cullet. This gives us greater control, producing glass that’s stronger, clearer, and free from the imperfections common in pre-formed materials. We cook each batch for 32 hours, allowing it to fully refine before we begin shaping—time-intensive, but essential for work that starts with the best possible foundation.
Quality Control
From fire to finish, every piece passes through multiple hands and discerning eyes before leaving our studio. During production, the gaffer inspects each work in progress, sending only first-quality pieces into the annealer. Once cooled, our lead shipper examines each one as it’s removed from the kiln, and again during the hand-signing process—ensuring the finished piece is free of cracks, uncharacteristic color flaws, bubbles, or visible tool marks.
